PROJECT BRIEF

The Project for Improvement in Fish Landing Facility and Fish Market of Youpwe in Douala City

The Project for Improvement in Fish Landing Facility and Fish Market of Youpwe in Douala City
OUTLINE OF THE PROJECT

In Cameroon, demand for fisheries products is expected to increase as a source of inexpensive animal protein, and efforts are needed to ensure a stable supply. Youpwe landing site in Douala City, the country's supply center for fresh fish, has safety and efficiency issues due to unstable platform for fish landing, and the fact that work is conducted on the road under the hot sun has led to a decline in the quality of fisheries product. In this cooperation, landing facilities, market facilities, and the surrounding environment were improved at the landing site. This improved the safety and efficiency of handling operations, conditions of fisheries value chaine, conditions of the fisheries-related workers, and contributed to improving the quality of marine products.
