PROJECT BRIEF

Project for The Improvement of Facilities and Training Equipment of National Fisheries College

Project for The Improvement of Facilities and Training Equipment of National Fisheries College
OUTLINE OF THE PROJECT

The National Fisheries College (NFC) is the only institution in Papua New Guinea that trains a wide range of fisheries personnel, offering courses from seafarer training to short courses for small-scale fishers. However, its existing waterfront facilities are cramped and aging and face safety problems from wave overtopping. In addition, its training vessel, now more than 20 years old, requires increasingly costly repairs, which hampers training. This project provides waterfront training facilities and equipment, including a training vessel, aiming to improve the safety and efficiency of practical training and to support the introduction of new courses.
