PROJECT BRIEF
Project for the Enhancement of the Ability of Maritime Safety and Security

OUTLINE OF THE PROJECT
In the Bay of Bengal, maritime crimes such as piracy, human trafficking, smuggling, and illegal fishing are serious problems, and Bangladesh's coastal areas are also exposed to the risk of maritime accidents caused by cyclones. The Bangladesh Coast Guard, which responds to such incidents and conducts rescue operations, had many 30-40 m vessels that had exceeded their standard 20-year service life, reducing their operational availability. This project was a preparatory survey for grant aid to provide the Coast Guard with a 35-meter patrol boat for patrols along the Chattogram coast, and it planned the scope of cooperation to help ensure security and safety in the country's coastal areas.
