PROJECT BRIEF
Japan's Grant Aid For the Economic and Social Development Program(Fisheries Research Vessel)

OUTLINE OF THE PROJECT
The National Fisheries College (NFC) is the only institution in Papua New Guinea that trains a wide range of fisheries personnel. Under Japan's Economic and Social Development Programme (FY2023), this project will provide the NFC with a 19-meter fisheries research vessel. With the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) serving as the procurement agent, the project conducts on-site consultations and surveys of the NFC's requirements, prepares the basic design of the vessel and the tender documents, and, after the shipbuilder is selected, carries out detailed design, construction supervision, and a defect inspection after delivery. The project aims to enhance fisheries surveys and practical training at the NFC.
